Nancy Pelosi a role model for female Massachusetts pols

"I want to like Nancy Pelosi. I have wanted to like her since she became a major player in the Democratic Party in the U.S. House of Representatives. We are of the same generation. And she is the best of all possible role models for women who have waited so long for people like Pelosi to help run the country. Pelosi is, famously now, a mother of five. She’s the daughter of a Baltimore mayor but she did not run for office until her children were grown. Nancy Pelosi began her public life in middle age and in 20 years rose to the top of her party in the U.S. House. Why don’t I celebrate her? Mainly, because until now she has seized every opportunity to be shrill about her displeasure with President Bush’s policies. I know it’s not politically correct to call a female leader shrill." (The Patriot Ledger)
Senior party operatives told The Sunday Telegraph that they are already co-ordinating plans to attack Nancy Pelosi, the liberal Californian congresswoman and Speaker-in-waiting who suffered a damaging rebuff from her own party caucus last week.
The Republican strategy is not only to undermine Mrs Pelosi's control of the House but also to associate her in voters' minds with Senator Hillary Clinton, the frontrunner for the 2008 Democrat presidential nomination.

Milian was just spotted last weekend dropping over $2100 in one Beverly Hills boutique.

Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, Scott Patterson, Melissa McCarthy, Keiko Agena, Edward Herrmann, Matt Czuchry, David Sutcliffe
Gilmore Girls: Season Seven PremiereRegular airtime: Tuesdays, 8pm ET (The CW)Cast: Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, Scott Patterson, Melissa McCarthy, Keiko Agena, Edward Herrmann, Matt Czuchry, David SutcliffeTV Guide‘s Michael Ausiello got that ball rolling early this month. Though he’s typically her number one fan, he expressed disappointment over Graham’s “emotionally guarded” performance while previewing tonight’s premiere at his blog. “Much of the episode called for Lorelai to be distraught over what she had done to Luke (i.e. bedding Christopher), and, unfortunately, LG rarely gives you a sense of that anguish,” he wrote. He also detailed a deviation from the script that seemed to favor Lorelai pursuing a romance with Christopher (David Sutcliffe), Rory’s (Alexis Bledel) father, beyond the one-night stand at the conclusion of last season. As Graham has defended the appeal of that relationship multiple times, Ausiello speculated that the change might be an indication of Graham’s increased creative input now that Rosenthal’s in charge.

This was a surprisingly unsurprising September. As Dashette Vida Guerra (2) was asking over tailgate ribs, "What happened to all that unpredictability you were talking about before the season, Dashman? You said every top team had a weakness, and there would be a lot of upsets, and a lot of upheaval in the polls. Looks like you were wrong." The Dash's response: There is a first time for everything, Vida. Now pipe down or Adriana Lima (3) makes a comeback.
